Mokokchung, March 17 (MExN): In view of the need to take urgent measures for preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the district where public have been advised to refrain for holding any social, cultural, sports, political, religious, academic and family functions programmes which may see a gathering of large number of people, the following programmes have been postponed in Mokokchung district:
• Beti Bachao Bedi Padhao Bike Rally
• Beti Bachao Bedi Padhao Badminton Tournament
• Mokokchung Inter Ward Football Tournament
• AKM programme
• Ongpangkong Watsu Mungdang Senden
The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir in a press release stated that the District Administration appreciates the organizations/organizers for cooperating with the administration in the greater interest and safety of the public of Mokokchung district. The District Administration has appealed to the people of Mokokchung to cancel or postpone any such events that might involve public gathering.
Further, all the citizens are advised to practice the proven method of “social distancing” as an effective precautionary measure to arrest and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, a DIPR report stated that the DC Mokokchung has requested all citizens of Mokokchung to refrain from spreading unsolicited rumours relating to COVID-19 in social media. Any person found creating/spreading such fake messages and rumours in social media will be penalized as per relevant section of the law.
Directive for self declaration
Through another release DC Mokokchung has informed that the District Task Force for COVID-19, as precautionary measures against corona virus outbreak, all the passengers travelling from outside the state into the district will be issued a self declaration form by the district Police personnel at Tsutapela gate and Watiyongpang gate. In this regard, all the passengers are requested to extend full co-operation.
All persons, students/public returning from affected areas and entering into the district are mandatory to self declare and report to the nearest District COVID- 19 monitoring Centre.
The District Task Force for COVID-19 Mokokchung also declares the Health Centre, Community Health Centre (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the district as District COVID- 19 monitoring Centre.
Suspends issue of ILP, bars entry of tourist
In pursuance of Home Department memorandum and in view of the need to take urgent measures for preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the district, the District Administration Mokokchung has necessitated the following:
Issue of new/fresh Inner Line Permits for Tourist (Both Domestic/Foreign) and all other categories shall remain suspended with immediate effect till further orders and the entry of any foreign or domestic tourist shall remain barred in the district from March 18 onwards until further orders.
Public advised not to panic
DC Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir, has informed the public of Mokokchung that there is enough stock of essential commodities in the market including fuel and medicines and that the commercial vehicles ferrying essential commodities to Mokokchung are arriving on a daily basis as usual. Therefore, the public have been advised not to panic and spread false rumours relating to non-availability of essential commodities due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Further it is stated that any traders found to be indulging in hoarding or selling items higher than the prescribed rate will attract penalties as per relevant section of the law.
