Mon, December 10 (MExN): The meeting of District Task Force Committee for Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme and COVID-19 vaccination was held at the DC’s Conference Hall in Mon under the chairmanship of DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS on December 9.

Dr Sashinle, DIO (UIP&RCH) disseminating information on COVID-19 vaccine said that the vaccine for COVID-19 in India is in third phase trail and it is in a higher side of being successful. “The preparation in the district has already begun by collecting list of beneficiaries,” she said while adding, “As per the guidelines the vaccine will be first prioritized for health care workers followed by front line workers and elderly aged groups.”

She mentioned that the challenge that the department will face is the house to house headcount survey. Therefore, she requested all the ward presidents to support and help to get proper enumeration of beneficiaries list as it is one of the factors to make the COVID vaccination campaign successful.

She said that the IPPI will be held from January 17 to 19. On January 17, it will be administered at the booths and on January 18 and 19, there will be house to house visit. Like every year, 299 booths will be set up under the District. Target beneficiaries list are yet to be collected from all the blocks.

“The only concern this year is the volunteers at the HQ,” she added and requested the ward presidents to detail three volunteers for each booth at their own ward’s vaccination booths. The volunteers will be trained on January 15.

The meeting also discussed the ‘SUMAN’ (Surakshit Matritva Aashwashan) scheme which aims at assured, dignified and respectful delivery of quality health care services at no cost and zero tolerance for denial of services to any woman and newborn visiting a public health facility in order to end all preventable maternal and newborn deaths and morbidities and provide a positive birthing experience.

She added that the successful implementation of the scheme needs support from all the allied department, NGOs and community leaders in creating awareness of the scheme.

This was stated in a press release issued by Leeyan Chemshy, District Media Officer, NHM, Mon.
