2011 open arm wrestling C'ship
Kohima, May 9 (MExN): Under the aegis of the Arm Challenge Organization, Kohima, an Open Arm-Wrestling Championship 2011 is scheduled to be held on May 14 at TT Indoor Stadium, Kohima. According to a press communiqué issued by the organizer, the championship would feature the categories of 60 Kg & below, 61-70 Kg, 71 Kg & above for men section, however there will be no category for the women participants. Cash awards along with citation shall be awarded to the winners for the entire category besides, over the top champion shall be exclusively rewarded. Forms can be obtained from Sports World main Town, Kohima and Star Sports BOC, Kohima. The release further stated that weighing for all categories will start on May 14 from 7:00 am onwards. AR inter sector football championship 2011
Dimapur, May 9 (MExN): The Assam Rifles Inter Sector Football Championship being held at ARTC & S, from May 9 to May 16, 2011 kick started at Shokhuvi Football Ground on May 9, 2011. A total of ten teams comprising nine teams from Assam Rifles Sectors and a team from ARTC & S are vying for the DGAR Football Trophy in the championship. The championship will be played on league-cum-knockout basis. The teams have been distributed in two pools i.e, ‘A’ and ‘B’ and the matches will be played in league encounters in the initial stage. Top two teams from each group scoring highest points will qualify for the knockout stage in semifinals and winners of the semifinals will play the final match. Two league matches were played today in the morning of the opening day of the tournament. The first league match in Pool-‘A’ was played between the teams of 9 Sector and 10 Sector. Players of 9 Sector displayed excellent soccer skills and registered their first win with a margin of 4-1 and earned 3 points for the team wherein Rifleman H Bimal Singh scored three goals (first hat-trick of the tournament) and one goal was scored by Rifleman A I Singh, whereas, 10 Sector was able to score the only consolation goal by Naib Subedar P Momin.
In the second league match, 5 Sector thrashed 26 Sector 6-0 in a one sided contest and earned three points. The players of 5 Sector showing smart football skills totally dominated the proceedings wherein three goals (second hat-trick of the tournament) were scored by Rifleman Tushi Ao, Naib Subedar RC Engti found the net twice and Rifleman B Khan scored one goal.

Kohima, May 9 (MExN): The Chozuba Area Sports’ Association will hold a general meeting on May 14 at 10:00 am at Government Higher Secondary School, Chozuba Town. In this respect, all the executives, unit presidents of CASA along with one representative have been requested to attend the said meeting without fail. This was stated in a release issued by CASA president Sao-o Keyho and general secretary Kukhoto Venyo.
