MPC takes up precautionary measures

Mokokchung, March 24 (MExN): The members of the Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) have resolved to avoid all press conferences for the time being.

This decision was necessitated in view of the global pandemic COVID-19 outbreak and as a countermeasure to prevent the members of the press club from the contagion as well as a preventive means to control its spread in the larger interest of the society., MPC informed on Tuesday.

It assured that the MPC will continue to remain active in their line of duty and those in need of their service may contact 9436016099 or 7005638013 for necessary details.

Further, the MPC appealed to all the citizens of Mokokchung to adhere to the public advisories issued by competent authorities on the matter. In the unfortunate event of an outbreak of COVID-19 in the district, we do not have the adequate medical capacity to contain the situation, it said.

There is no report of COVID-19 positive case in the district as of date but we also know that no tests have been done and we do not have a testing lab or a diagnosis facility in the district. Therefore, the best option that we have at hand is to prevent the entry of COVID-19 into our district and/or to curtail its spread, by adopting and adhering to the measures issued by competent authorities, the MPC asserted.

Insensible members of the society who “seem to be taking the situation for granted” are putting the lives of the entire population of Mokokchung at risk, MPC said.

Appealing  to every member of the society come together to defeat COVID-19, it hoped that common sense would prevail, “so that we can fare through this trying situation together and safely as a society.”

It also thanked the Young Women Christian Association of Mokokchung for donating face masks to the Mokokchung Press Club.
