Mustering Courage!

Nagas yearn to move from uncertainty to stability, and from fragile peace to one where living a dignified peaceful coexistence is possible. The challenge is to invoke the spirit of critical imagination accompanied by action where Nagas confidently and creatively explore a strategic praxis of transformation. It is crucial that Nagas have hope and are confident in their pursuit for peace with dignity which is combined with strategic planning in order to realize a shared humanity.

Hope can be said to be the collective optimism and belief to fulfill a desired destination. Hope is fundamental in enabling a people to confidently and with resolve propel themselves towards their destiny. Hope is a state of consciousness that catalyzes moving from inaction to action. After all, hope is not an end, rather an essential part of an ongoing process, a condition of heightened consciousness and realization which has moved the human spirit to do the extraordinary.

It will be fair to say that hope is essential for the Nagas in their efforts to transcend the prevailing dogmatic status quo. Indeed, it is hope that has heightened the collective yearning for a fuller humanity. Nonetheless, hope in itself is incomplete. In actuality, the very nature of hope is accompanied by an imaginative, creative and innovative strategic process of moving from the present into the future. It is in the area of strategic planning that Nagas need assistance as its hopes have been belied by the conditions of time.

Now is the time for Nagas to reinvigorate and rejuvenate an initiative designing an imaginative and strategic framework that would once again give the Nagas a renewed sense of hope for constructing a pathway towards a shared humanity. Pertinent to this process is the need to engaged in a series of dialogues and collectively identify the essentials for Nagas to move forward.

Undoubtedly and absolutely Nagas need to move from the prevailing divisive monologue to a democratic space for dialogue. This space would invite the diverse voices that make up the Naga realm to participate in open exchanges of self-criticism which could eventually ensure re-establishing the Naga ethos of life. Dialogue would take place in various forms at different levels of society on multiple issues. For instance, initiatives could be more open ended and holistic expanding beyond resolutions and reconciliation efforts to reconstructing society’s broken areas.

Remembering that the sum of the parts is always stronger and more long lasting than the individual parts is essential to understanding how social change comes about. Consequently, an integrated strategy for rebuilding and restoring the Naga ethos and way of life needs everyone’s input, ideas and imagination. By rekindling the Naga spirit of hope we can find our way together toward a shared humanity.
