•-My husband is a government servant and to me, he is a right thinking person. Whatever his official duties/responsibilities are, it should never have been taken up with his family. I am deeply hurt by the incident that happened. Trespassing/forcefully entering and abusing someone in his home is a serious crime as per our customary law. Every one of us has the right to personal safety at home. Naga Society is strongly bound by our customary practices and such practices should be upheld.
The unfortunate incident which occurred shows that our society is not as civilized as we see it. We have the right to live peacefully within our homes whatever nature of duties our husband /father or any members of the family perform. Today I am facing the humiliation and abuse just because my husband is a government servant obediently carrying out his duties. Tomorrow it could be anybody facing the same situation. We have to come together and protect ourselves. Or should we allow ourselves to be intimidated by such forces whose actions have no place in our society.
I thank each and everyone, for your support and concern during the humiliating and uncivilized incident that occurred on 1st September 2011 where a group of encroachers trying to encroach into the Nagaland Zoological Park in total disregard, trespass into my residence and poured out their anger on me and humiliated me. Your concern has comforted me during my mental unrest and has been a big support. All these support and concern really helped me to pick up my courage to do the only small thing I could to thank each one of you through the media.
These few words of appreciation to all individuals, friends, organizations, forums, media and all the Nagas cannot repay the debts, however I felt it would bring me more comfort to thank you and that each one of your support and concern is appreciated and acknowledged.
May God bless each one of you abundantly and keep you safe.
