N2BM wins NSACS zonal district level band competition in Dimapur

Next to Blue Moon (N2BM), a funk rock band, were adjudged the winners of the Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS) zonal district level band competition organised by the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Dimapur and NSACS Kohima at Town hall, Dimapur on November 4. 

Formed in 2019 the band were the winners of the Tech Aura battle of the bands 2019, first runner-up of Musika festival 2022, and winners of MIT Chümoukedima 2022. Their line-up include Khumti Mongzar on vocals, Meren on lead guitar, Okoliba Ozukum on rhythm guitar, Tsathsing Langkithongru on bass and Atsa Sangtam on drums. 

Chümoukedima  natives, Code XVII a Christian band formed in 2019, were declared the second runners-up. The band consists of members Sunep as front man, Akum on guitar, Apong on bass and Andrew on drums. While Pineapple Express, another funk rock band, came in third place. The members were, Temsu Ozukum, on vocals, Sashi on guitars, Rongsen on bass and Mhabi on drums. 

Under the theme, “HIV prevention starts with me,” this was the 10th multimedia campaign and awareness through music event which saw three bands from Dimapur zone, competing for the title. 

The winners, first runner-up and second runner-up all walked home with cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. 

Judges for the competition were Moanungsang, winner of Naga Idol and recipient of North-East young achievers award and Yangkumba Jinger, drummer of Incipit. 

The winners of the zonal competition will compete at the grand finale, scheduled to be held in Kohima in the coming days, following which they will contest for the North-eastern region multimedia campaign in Sikkim.
