NAAC team visit to Zunheboto Govt College ends

Zunheboto, March 17 (MExN): A three member delegation of University Grants Commission, National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) expert central team visited Zunheboto Government College (ZGC) on March 16 and 17 for NAAC assessment report.
The peer team was led by its chairman Dr Vasant Shinde along with its member coordinator Dr Devakumar Tra and member Dr Munindra Konwar.
On the first day, the team interacted with the Principal, various departments of the college and their heads, ministerial staff, Alumni Association, parents teachers association, College advisory board and the students.
The team then inspected the college infrastructure and the extra-curricular facilities provided to students by the college. The team also visited the college library, museum, indoor stadium cum auditorium, first aid room, sports room, library and toilets for differently-abled persons, IGNOU office, day care centre, NSS office, NCC office, students' council office, pony house, college canteen, classrooms, Horticulture field (Kiwi farm), computer room and Geography laboratory.
The day ended with a cultural programme held at ZGC auditorium chaired by Lika A Zhimo. During the cultural programme, the students presented cultural practices of the Sümi tribe, such as folk dance of men (aphilo kuwo), folk song of women (lejole), spear kicking (Angu kupusu), fire making (Ami kukula) and presentation of mekhala varieties with their significance.
On the second day, the peer team reviewed the best practices adopted by the college.
At the exit meeting Dr Nishena Nekha Principal ZGC chaired the program and also delivered the welcome address.
Addressing the congregation, the chairman of the NAAC team said that initially he was reluctant but on reaching, he was glad for having come to Zunheboto and lauded its landscape and the family of ZGC.
He said that NAAC is like a doctor and they have diagnosed the problems which he assured to cure.
He added that NAAC wants to ensure that the quality of education, finances etc are all in the proper place, because if these are in proper place, the education will be smooth.
He added that they have done the proper analysis without any bias and lauded the IQAC for their work and hoped that, with their efforts, it can grow further in the future.
He commended the students for their unity which he said was obvious after witnessing the cultural programme.
The chairman ended his address by handing over the NAAC report to the Principal ZGC. The programme concluded with words of gratitude proposed by Dr Chandrashekharen, coordinator IQAC.
Earlier, the official delegates were welcomed by the Zunheboto District administration, Directorate of Higher Education, Sumi apex tribal bodies- Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH), Zunheboto Sumi Totimi Hoho (ZSTH) and Zunheboto Government College alumni, Parents Teachers Association, Sumi Officers Union Zunheboto, College advisory Board members and well wishers.
