Naga artiste trains officer trainees at Mussoorie

Noted Naga Dance Trainer, Azone Zuvezolu Tetseo gave assistance and guidance for about one week to the Officer Trainees of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration,  Mussoorie to put a show for performance of Naga Dance on the occasion of India Day on 19th November and 20th November 2005 at the Academy. The show was extremely well received, and the trainees appreciated the efforts made by her.

Azone Zuvezolu Tetseo is a vocalist par excellence. She hails from Thuvopisu, a small village in the remote district of Phek in Nagaland which is located in the North Eastern part of India.

Naturally talented but with no formal tutelage, Azone, better known as “Zulu” to family, friends and her admirers, began singing at a very tender age. She was “discovered” by her grand mother (herself an eminent and well known folk singer in her community from whom, one could say, Zulu inherited her musical genes) who took Zulu under her wings and began to hone her rough talent to perfection. Zulu is today considered one of the leading exponents of Naga folk music and dance all over Nagaland. She is an accredited singer with Radio and Television in Nagaland.

Zulu, in her own right, has composed and sung various songs which bring to life the verve and zest of ‘CHOKRIS”, the tribal people of the State of Nagaland. She has to her credit, cut a few tapes which give a brilliant glimpse of this verve and zest.
