Naga Club, KTB to visit Myanmar Nagas in Noklak areas

KOHIMA, August 24 (MExN): The Naga Club (NC) and the Kezekevi Thehou Ba from Kohima will be visiting Nagas from across the Myanmar border taking shelter at the Noklak areas on August 29.

They will be taking 100 bags of rice and medicines along with one doctor for them, stated a NEPS report.

“A team of members from the Naga Club and Kezekevi Thehou Ba (a Trust) from Kohima with 100 bags of rice and medicines along with a doctor will be reaching Noklak on the evening of 29th August this month,” Kuolachalie Seyie, NC President told NEPS here at Kohima. “A brief program will be organized on 30 August 2022 there and we shall distribute rice and medicines to Naga people who are taking shelter there,” he stated.

Seyie said they were informed by the ‘Tenyimia people who already visited them about the pathetic condition they had been undergoing. From there, they (Members of the Naga Club and Kezekevi Thehou Ba) decided to visit them with rice and medicines.’

He further stated that they would see with their own eyes what was happening on the ground and if the situation was still prevailing, then they would take up the issue with the government to process for the recognition of them as refugee status.

“In our case, they are our own Naga people who ran away from Myanmar, yet the administration is finding difficulties in providing relief. So the only way is to push the issue with the government to see that they are given recognition as refugee status,” Seyie said and added, “Because, without recognition as refugee status, the authority also faces problems in helping them.”
