Pressing on the need to make Naga society economically self reliant, minister for Health & Family Welfare minister, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu on December 29 last said that Naga people have to learn from progressive economies.
Gracing the golden jubilee celebration of Phuhgimi Village Students Union (PVSU) at the village local ground, the minister regretted section of Nagas living on other’s sweat. Blaming such practice as a direct result of growing laziness and lack of work culture, the minister was of the opinion that Naga people should go back to the basics and re-learn the past work culture.
He also resented the growing number of unemployment amongst the youth state-over. The increase in unemployment the minister stated was a result of lack of dignity of labour and work culture. This, he pointed out was evident from the number of increasing influx of non-local population.
“There is no dearth of job openings for the immigrant population, but for locals, job has become scant because Naga youth overlook all odd jobs for want of white collar jobs,” the minister lamented.
He encouraged the local youth to take up all odd jobs to do away with problem of unemployment stating, “If we take up all odd jobs, there will be no problem with employment crisis.” In a clarion call, he impressed upon all Nagas to go back to the land, inculcate the culture of honesty and work culture.
Also speaking at the occasion, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president, Sovenyi reminded the villagers to hold onto the two basic traits – ‘honesty and hard work’ associated with the people.
“Chakhesang were never backward in the past,” he said adding, “Forefathers had work culture unlike the contemporaneous generation.” He encouraged the younger generation to relearn the unique qualities to be successful in future.
Earlier, the minister unveiled the jubilee monolith and unfurled the union flag. The minister was accompanied by host of public leaders, officers and village elders.
