Naga Task Force Bengaluru updates on relief efforts

Bengaluru, April 22 (MExN): The Naga Task Force Bengaluru today issued a press release providing details of its relief efforts for Nagas stranded in the city and the utilization of funds received under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

The Naga Task Force Bengaluru was formed on April 1 under the aegis of Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru and Eastern Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru consisting of 6 members to help Nagas procure food and groceries with free delivery at their doorsteps, the release stated.

So far the Task Force has reached 763 individuals per its record as of April 20. However, some groups of students and stranded workers were not included in the list which will round up to around 950-1000 members, it said.

It also pointed out that the Task Force’s delivery services are “confined within Bengaluru due to curfew but we are making sure to help all Nagas across Karnataka by transferring a nominal amount of money into their accounts to buy groceries for those far away from Bengaluru.”

Further, the Task Force appreciated the initiative of the Nagaland State Government for sanctioning Rs 2 lakhs with which relief efforts have been carried out. It also expressed gratitude to all individuals, organization and NGOs for donating towards the welfare of stranded Nagas.

“We are trying our best but for sure we have failed to answer and respond many again, due to limited volunteers and also considering our personal work,” but with the announcement of special packages for stranded Nagas, “we are hopeful this will be availed by only genuinely affected one” it stated.
