Nagaland: 134 recover from COVID, 86 new cases

Dimapur, February 2 (MExN): Single-day recoveries outnumbered new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland as 134 people were cured of the disease and 86 tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, according to the state’s daily health bulletin on Wednesday. 

The fresh cases raised the tally in the state to 34,610, while 31,609 people have recuperated from the disease so far, as per the bulletin which is issued daily by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).

Of the new cases, 48 were detected during self tests and random testing while 22 were detected among traced contacts. There were 12 cases among travellers and returnees and four among frontline workers. A total of 43 cases were from Dimapur district, 21 from Tuensang, and 15 from Kohima. Mokokchung reported four new cases, Mon two and Peren one. 

The COVID-19 death toll remained at 732 with no fatalities on Wednesday.

The state now has 840 active cases out of which 681 are said to be asymptomatic, 139 have mild symptoms and 16 have moderate symptoms. Among those with severe symptoms, one patient is on oxygen while three others are said to be admitted in the Intensive Care Unit and are on ventilator support.
