KOHIMA, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Nagaland State Cabinet has taken several decisions regarding requisition and extension of services of medical personnel in the State.

The cabinet decided that medical personnel (doctors, nurses, technicians and paramedics) who may be retiring but whose services may be required and are willing, will be allowed to continue for a period of three months, subject to review as the situation arises.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare is allowed to fill existing vacancies of doctors, nurses and paramedics on contingency basis. The department is also authorised to engage medical personnel, as the need arises, regardless of sanctioned cadre strength for fixed period to tide over the crisis.

The criteria and manner of such engagement and the level of approvals for various categories shall be finalised by the Chief Secretary, the cabinet decided.
