Nagaland Muaythai team with their medals.
AGARTALA, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): Nagaland Muaythai fighters put up a strong showing at the Northeast India Muaythai and K1 Championship and CSD Fight Night, held here from December 15 to 17.
The championship, along with the CSD Fight Night (India vs Nepal), was organised by the Combat Sport Development (CSD) Foundation, Tripura, in collaboration with the All Tripura Amateur Muaythai Association at the NSRCC Stadium.
Team Strike-Fit Academy, Nagaland finished with an impressive haul of 11 medals--eight gold, two silver and one bronze. The team also registered an international professional victory, with Vihuto Sema (67 kg pro fight) winning his professional debut bout against a Nepalese opponent.
The gold medallists include Aputo (45 kg, U-23), Hisato Ayemi (54 kg, elite), Pikato V. Awomi (57 kg, U-17), Anazi Anar (60 kg, elite), Niuka Chophy (60 kg, K1, U-18), Phongmei Phom (67 kg, U-23), Ravi Raj Chauhan (60 kg, U-23) and Lemnon Konyak (45 kg, women’s U-23).
Silver medals were won by Ringpal Dey (45 kg, U-17) and Huka Ayemi (54 kg, U-23), while Moangtemjen Imsong (48 kg, U-23) claimed the bronze.
The 12-member Nagaland team was led by coach Kru Hemavi, team manager Pekingto Y. Jimo and technical judge and referee Moakumzuk Longchar.
The performances underlined the growing strength of Muaythai and K1 athletes from Nagaland and the Northeast, with competitors delivering strong results at both national and international platforms.
