NPCC ‘Crusade against unfaithful government’ reaches Mon
Dimapur, November 13 (MExN): As part of its ongoing ‘Crusade against unfaithful government,’ the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has concluded its tour of Mon district. The tour came with a major announcement from former MP and AICC In-charge of Nagaland Dr Ajoy Kumar that the NPCC “will field all 60 candidates in the upcoming 2023 general elections.”
According to the party’s Communication Department, Dr Ajoy Kumar joined the NPCC tour team which was led by President K Therie and visited Sheanghah Chingnyu village. A public meeting was held with the Angh, GBs, village council members, church and student union leaders wherein village council chairperson expressed his happiness at the visit of the NPCC team and remarked that it was the first time for a dignitary from outside Nagaland to visit the village, it said in a press release on Saturday.
The release stated that Dr Ajoy Kumar, while thanking the villagers for the warm reception, lamented that the roads were in a pathetic condition, stating that the people of Sheanghah Chingnyu deserved better. Taking a dig at the NDPP-BJP-NPF government, he said that the alliance has “totally failed the people and its state and that Nagaland deserves better,” it said.
While stating his admiration for the beauty and the nature of the Naga people, Dr Kumar slammed the BJP government stating that it was “trying to dilute the beauty of the diversity in India” and that the Indian National Congress (INC) would work towards defeating the BJP-RSS idea of division. He also said with confidence that Congress would come in 2024 and “restore the good days,” the release stated.
State party President K Therie also addressed the gathering clearing the exact position of political solution, the Communication Department stated. Expounding on how and why implementation of solution is delayed, he alleged that the state’s 60 MLAs “have given blank cheque to Government of india (GoI) to divide Nagaland even after Gol have declared that talks have concluded for Nagaland [sic],” the release stated. He held the UDA solely responsible for the delay while explaining about the Congress’ resolution demanding withdrawal of August 3 State Assembly resolution. He also appealed the people to stand with the Congress to “defend, protect our faith and land.”
As per the release, in another meeting with the party officials at DCC Mon office, Therie motivated party workers to work for the 2023 general elections and reach out to the people. He also reminded the DCC and ACCC officials to set up polling booth committees at the earliest.
Dr Ajoy Kumar is also said to have shared his experience of working with PCC Jharkhand and his MP election experiences. Emphasising that hard work is the only key to success; he encouraged the party workers to work hard to score big in the next elections and urged them to fight on issues and stand on issues of common interest. “He attacked the BJP government for cheating the people of India and trapping citizens into famine like situation. He urged the people to come together to vote out BJP Alliance Govt in Nagaland in 2023 and enjoy the good days,” the release stated.
The NPCC tour team was joined by party vice president W Akum Yim, general secretary Athang Chongloi, Ex MLA & general secretary Shaboh Konyak, NSUI Nagaland president X Chophika Sumi, Chief Organizer Seva Dal Yongyo Konyak, and Minority Department’s Social Media chairperson Gobind Pradhan, the release stated.
