Nagaland: ENSF demands govt convene meeting on CAA

Tuensang, February 21 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) on Friday urged the State Government/Chief Minister to immediately call a consultative meeting on the Citizenship Amendment Act issue “in the interest of Naga future and to end the blame game.”

In a press release, the ENSF recounted the December 3, 2019 meeting between the Nagaland state government, all state political parties and stakeholders and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, where the latter assured that Nagaland would be exempt from the purview of the CAA by virtue of Inner Line Permit (ILP) notified under Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) Act, 1873.

ENSF put forward its observation that the delegation did not have the chance to deliberate on the matter at length as the meeting was very brief and as such, urged the State Government to call a consultative meeting to “clear the confusion among the Nagas.”
