Commissioner says closure of Inter-State checkgate poses great challenge
Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): In a combined destruction programme of seized IMFL by the District Excise Dimapur, Narcotic Cell & Mobile Squad carried out at Excise Directorate on August 6, a total of 40,484 bottles of assorted brands of IMFL were destroyed.
The articles amounted to Rs 52,00,140 at street value, informed an update issued by the Commissioner of Excise. The destroyed IMFL pertains to the seizure affected between the period of April 2022 to July 2022.
Addressing the programme, the Commissioner of Excise & Prohibition, H Atokhe Aye acknowledged the contribution of the three units, “despite the free flow of liquor resulted from the closure of Inter-State checkgate which has posed great challenge for the enforcement agency.”
The Commissioner further seek the support and cooperation of the citizens and social organisations in helping the enforcement agency congratulated the three wings of the Department for the commendable seizure in spite of all the situational constrains and encouraged the Excise personnel to keep up the good work in the right spirit.
The programme was chaired by S Chanlei Angh, Deputy Commissioner of Excise (HQ) who also lauded the three units for their achievements in making huge seizures within a short span of time. Brief report was presented by the Superintendent of Excise (Dimapur), Superintendent of Excise (Mobile Squad) & Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell).
