Nagaland fish farmers undergoes study tour

Kohima, December 3 (MExN): The Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) organized an exposure visit cum study tour for the progressive fish farmers of the State to Assam from November 26 to 29.
A press release issued by the Directorate of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Kohima stated that the objective of the tour was to sensitize the State fish farmers on the recent trends and technological advances made in the field of fisheries and aquaculture management practices adopted by the fish farmers of Assam.
The team led by Khriezhato Nakhro and co-team leader Tsutsamo Ezung visited various Government Institutions, beels and private farms in and around Assam namely the College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University at Roha, Jongal Balahu Garh fish seed farm which is the largest Government owned fish farm of Assam and the largest dry fish market of Asia situated at Jagiroad.
The team also visited a cage culture unit installed at thekera bheel, Morigaon. Along with classroom knowledge, practical demonstrations and hands on training were also imparted to the fish farmers on soil water testing, integrated fish culture and composite fish culture management practices.
