Nagaland General Election: Returning officers trained on certification prog

Kohima, November 1 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming General Election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2023 a four-day certification programme for Returning Officers (ROs) & Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) of Nagaland in two simultaneous batches from November 1 to 4 (Phase-I) and  November 22 to 25 (Phase-II) begun at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima on November 1. 

V Shashank Shekhar, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland in a press release stated that the first phase of the certification programme is being conducted for Dimapur, Peren, Phek, Mokokchung, Wokha, Kiphire, Chümoukedima, Tseminyu and Pughoboto and the second phase of training will be for Kohima, Zunheboto, Mon, Tuensang, Longleng, Noklak and Shamator.

During the inaugural session, CEO Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar highlighted on the important role played by the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers in the conduct of election. He encouraged the officers to focus on their mandated role with utmost dedication and deliver service to the people with efficiency. Elections are at the heart of a democratic system of governance. 

The programme was chaired by Additional CEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie. Overview of the programme was given by Jt. CEO, Sharon Longchari and DCEO, Alila Chang. Vote of thanks was proposed by Jt. CEO, Awa Lorin. 

The four-day simultaneous training programme is being conducted by resource persons/National Level Master Trainers (NLMTs) deputed by the Election Commission of India (ECI). 

The various sessions will include Electoral Roll, Qualification & disqualifications, Nomination, Scrutiny of nominations, Withdrawal of Candidature and Allotment of Symbol, District Election Management Plan (DEMP) including COVID Guidelines, Vulnerability Mapping, Systematic Voter Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP), Model Code of Conduct (MCC), IT applications, Postal Ballot, ETPBS, Media Certification & Monitoring Committee (MCMC) & Paid News, Law & Order, Expenditure Monitoring and Accounts on Election Expenditure, Polling Party and Poll Day Management, Service Voter Portal, Observer Portal, EVM-VVPAT Administrative procedure, NGRS
The inaugural programme was attended by NLMTs including Pratibha Parekh, Joint CEO, Rajasthan and Anil Salgotra, Joint CEO, Jammu & Kashmir.
