Nagaland health officials review Wokha healthcare facilities

Wokha, April 9 (MExN): Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Nagaland, Anoop Kinchi along with Medical Directorate officials paid a monitoring visit to Wokha village Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), District Hospital Wokha and Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) Office Wokha on April 8. 

The team held consultative meeting with the district officials at CMO office. The Commissioner and Secretary stressed on the need to step up the Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) screening in the district and to increase the enrolment in the NCD portal. He also directed the health workers to focus on generation of ABHA health card in the district, stated a press release from Chief Medical Officer’s office Wokha.

During the visit, the team monitored the health facilities and interacted with the health workers. At Wokha village HWC, Anoop Kinchi spoke with the Community Health Officer and ASHA. He lauded the efforts of the health centre staffs in providing quality health services and institutional delivery. During interaction with ASHA, he highlighted on the importance of home visits and community participation to enhance the health services. The Community Based Assessment Checklist form will be soon introduced in the NCD portal to ease the work of the ASHAs. 

The team comprised of Dr Vezokholu Theyo, Addl Director, H&FW, Dr Kika Longkumer, Joint Director, Alemwabang, Joint Director and Vethi Rio, PM (QA), NHM. 

The team also visited UPHC Wokha and District Hospital Wokha and held meetings with the medical staffs.

Another press release added that during the monitoring visit, a brief meeting was held with the staff of DMMDH Wokha. Dr N Mhonchan Kithan, Medical Superintendent, DMMDH Wokha briefed the state officials on the functioning of the hospital.

The visiting officials encouraged the staff to provide quality health services to the community. The State Officials visited Jan Aushadhi store, surgical ward, operation theatre (OT), Labour Room, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Blood storage unit, Pathology Labs, and held interaction with the staff DMMDH.
