Through the platform of State Level Science, Mathematics & Environment Exhibition 2023 in Kohima, students from different educational institutions today presented scientific models on “My Ideal Home,” Grey water recycling model using eco-friendly and low cost materials, sustainable smart home, sleep detector, revolutionised solution for health and cleanliness, working models of hydraulic excavator, Bluetooth controlled and obstacle avoidable robot, eco-friendly home model, raindrops and wind electricity etc.

The exhibition took place in the presence Nagaland School Education & SCERT Advisor, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima under the theme “Technology & Toy.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yhome stressed on the importance of science and technology in today's world, saying that it has eased everyday life and made it less complicated. He assured that the department will see that science, mathematics and environment exhibition is conducted at the district level. 

He viewed that technology should be used for the goodness of humanity. The Advisor said the Naga society has come a long way from the head-hunting culture to catching up with the rest of the world within a short span of time. There is a need for exemplary leaders with a strong narrative to lead society, he said.

Dr Yhome urged upon the students to be creative without any limits and to think without bounds. Further, he maintained that toys act as an important tool to teach children about various things.


 
‘Give more space to children to learn’

Also speaking on the occasion, Nagaland’s school education director Wonthungo Tsopoe stressed on the need to give more space to children to learn in line with the new National Education Policy’s focus on student-centered learning.

Stating that the future of our generation lies in our children, he said “Let us nurture them well.”

Tsopoe also stressed on the need to have more interactions between the teachers and students.

T Mhonlumi Ezung, PGT (Zoology), Rüzükhrie GHSS Kohima said that the idea behind this science, mathematics & environment exhibition is to encourage a new approach to education and improve children’s critical thinking ability.

Onongoto Solehol, Chief Mentor, Innovation Hub and Space Education Center, Nagaland Science Centre talked on the theme “Technology and Toys.”

Earlier, Patricia Vizo, senior SDEO delivered welcome address. Students from Baptist High Kohima presented special song. Vote of thanks was proposed by Gloria Ezung, Assistant Director, School Education, Nagaland.

This programme was organized by Directorate of School Education in collaboration with District Education Office, Kohima.
