Kohima, October 8 (MExN): The Department of Economics and Statistics, Nagaland, has revised the requirements for verification of applications for delayed registration of births and deaths beyond one year.
According to an official DIPR update, the revised requirements are to be followed by the District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Executive Magistrate duly authorised by the District Magistrate, as the case may be, before approving such delayed registrations.
Applicants seeking delayed registration of birth beyond one year will have to produce at least two of the following documents as proof of birth, place and date of birth: discharge slip issued by the concerned hospital or health institution; vaccination card issued by the concerned hospital or health institution; school records/HSLC admit card; government ID card; driving licence; passport; pensioner card; Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC); PAN card; or certification by the Village Council Chairman/Ward Councillor.
For non-indigenous applicants, the birth certificates of parents and Inner Line Permit (ILP) will be mandatory in addition to the prescribed supporting documents.
For delayed registration of death beyond one year, applicants will have to produce either a medical certificate for cause of death or certification by the Village Council Chairman/Ward Councillor indicating the date of death.
The department has directed all District Chief Registrars of Births and Deaths, Registrars and other concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance with the notification while processing applications for delayed registration of births and deaths.
The notification has come into force with immediate effect, it stated.
