Wokha, October 26 (MExN): The Lotha Naga Cultural Society (LNCS) in collaboration with Lotha Eloe Hoho organised cultural day and talent hunt for Mr & Miss Tokhü 2023 contestants at Hammock Resort, Wokha village on October 24.

Speaking as a guest, PCC member and Retd Jt Director, School Education, N Wobenthung Tungoe stressed the importance of preserving our culture and tradition. He said, “Literature and culture has to be restored” and one should also give importance to our mother tongue.

Altogether 18 contestants, 9 female and 9 male are participating for the Mr & Miss Tokhü title which will be held on November 6 in Wokha, stated a press release received here. 

The competition was held in various categories separately for male and female where the contestants demonstrated weaving, sharpening of machete, basket making, folk songs, folk Dances and word meaning.

Later in the evening, EAC, Wokha Imkongnukla Ao urged the contestants to know their talent and work hard to be a successful person. She further stressed the need to think beyond tribalistic line and give equal opportunities to all.

Representatives from Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho and former Miss Tokhu also exhorted the participants during the daylong competition. 

The judges for the competitions were Zubemo Kithan, President LNCS Kohima, R Zuchobeni Ezong, Former President, Lotha Eloe Hoho Wokha, Hsyio Francies Ezung, President, LNCS Longsa village unit and Abi Humtsoe, Naga traditional corner, Wokha.
