Nagaland logs 107 fresh COVID cases

Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): Nagaland recorded 107 fresh COVID cases from three districts, pushing the state’s cumulative tally to 33,585 on Sunday.

The new cases were detected from 419 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, returning a daily positivity rate of 25.54 percent, according to the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme’s daily bulletin.

Dimapur and Kohima districts which have been placed under ‘situational level 2’ category reported 83 and 14 cases respectively while Wokha reported 10 new cases.  The new cases comprise of 76 that were detected through self-tests and random testing, 23 were returnees/travellers, five were traced contacts, two were armed forces/security personnel while one was a front line worker, as per the bulletin. A total of 54 patients who previously tested positive for the virus recovered on Sunday, taking the state’s tally of recoveries to 30,862. 

As on Sunday, the number of active cases in the State now stands at 685. With no new deaths, the COVID death tally stands at 689 while 1,333 COVID-19 positive people have ‘migrated’ to other states.
