
Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): In a single day jump, the state of Nagaland logged 120 new COVID-19 cases in the past twenty four hours. The state health department’s daily bulletin informed that the cases were detected from 810 samples that were tested, returning a daily positivity rate of 14.81 percent.
It also informed that Dimapur district alone reported 98 cases, while Kohima reported 15 cases. Wokha reported three cases and Tuensang two, while Mokokchung and Mon reported a single case each.
As per the bulletin which is issued daily by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), at least 61 of the new cases were detected through self tests and random testing while 48 were detected among travellers or returnees. Another six cases were detected among traced contacts, three from front line workers, and two from armed forces or security personnel.
Meanwhile, 60 people recovered from the disease in the state in the past one day, according to the bulletin. The recoveries were reported from Dimapur (38), Kohima (15), Mokokchung (4), Mon (1), Peren (1), and Phek (1).
Tuesday’s addition took the total active cases in the state to 894, out of which 738 are said to be asymptomatic cases. A total of 141 other cases were classified as mild symptomatic, 11 patients had moderate symptoms, and four have severe symptoms.
No COVID related fatalities have been reported in Nagaland in the last 24 hours and the death toll remains at 732.
