Kiphire, December 17 (MExN): The State funeral service of T Torechu MLA was held at Pungro Town Local Ground on December 17. As per DIPR report, at the funeral service, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire Sarita Yadav conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family, while adding that the late MLA was a man who dedicated and devoted his duty for the people of Kiphire district. He was a good responsible person who gave his time for the upliftment of the people in bringing development to his area, noted the DC. R Tohanba and Heno also gave short speeches in honor of the late leader. “Torechu was a kind hearted man and of strong determination and responsibility, and was a trust worthy friend who tirelessly worked for the people,” the speeches echoed. Yimchunger Tribal Council president, District Unti president of NPF 60 A/C. YAA, PACSU also gave short speeches. Wreaths, special song and mass prayer were held. The State funeral service was presided over by Pastor PTBC and invocation prayer was led by Tsuyibah. T Torechu, MLA 60 A/C, a native of Pungro village passed away in the morning on December 16, after a prolonged illness in Dimapur.

Azo Nienu: MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu also mourned the sudden demise of the MLA. “We have truly lost a fatherly figure, a friend, a colleague, a comrade, who was one of the finest, humblest and simplest soul ever and not forgetting a down to earth leader of our time,” Azo said in a condolence message. Such a leader will be very hard to find and replace, Azo added and prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
KU: The Konyak Union (KU) expressed sadness over his demise. “He was a strong leader with a cheerful heart and always working for the welfare of the people,” read a condolence message from KU President Howing Konyak and Press Secretary T Pangmei Konyak. “In his demise, a strong and committed leader serving for the Naga people especially for the Eastern Naga people has been lost which will be difficult to fill.” The Union conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God grant them comfort and solace in the time of grief and for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
YAA: The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) also mourned his untimely demise. A condolence message from YAA President S Yansomong Yimchunger and & Information Secretary S Thsankiu, Press said Torechu led an illustrious life who served the Nagas and his community in particular in various capacities. In his demise, the Yimchungrü community has lost a towering personality, “known for unwavering commitment and the void created by his demise would be difficult to fill. His advice shall remain a guiding force for the younger generation,” the message added. “During his stint, he had ushered in a new dawn of progress in all aspects particularly in his constituency and that his contribution shall ever be cherished.” In this moment of grief and sorrow, YAA conveyed heartfelt condolences and prayer of solace to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
