Phek Deputy Commissioner and DDMA Chairman, Orenthung said that the district requires more than Rs 6.97 crores to restore damages sustained by the recent natural disaster.
In a Consolidated Report Of damages, the DC informed that Rs 4,16,06,000 is required to restore damages in the entire district.
The fund requirements on infrastructural damages and human casualties are: Rs 4 lakh for death by drowning of a male at Chetheba circle; Rs 90.69 lakh for 89 fully damaged pucca houses; Rs 85.59 lakh for 84 fully damaged kutcha houses; Rs 85.59 lakh for 84 severely damaged kutcha houses; Rs 1.19 lakh for 23 partially damaged houses; Rs 63 lakh for 21 major roads cut off by landslides; Rs 20 lakh for 10 damaged culverts; and Rs 51 lakh for 17 damaged hanging bridges He said that another Rs 281.34 lakh is required for restoration of damages caused to agricultural land, and the animal Husbandry & fisheries sector. This includes Rs 12.64 lakh for damages caused to 186 hectares of agriculture crops; Rs 52.50 lakh for 140 hectares loss of substantial portion of land; Rs 23.40 lakh for loss of 78 animals; Rs 1.90 lakh for 28 hectares of horticulture plantations affected; Rs 190.50 lakh for 127 damaged irrigation canals; and Rs 40,000 for 4 damaged fisheries.
The DC pointed out that two sorties made by IAF chopper for supply of essential commodities to Phokhungri and Wuzu villages under Meluri sub-division.
He added that the district administration and DDMA have extended immediate relief of Rs 10,000 each for those whose houses were severely damaged and Rs 5000 each for partially damaged houses.
