Kohima, December 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has urged the remaining schools to implement the Financial Literacy course by the 2025 academic session, following its earlier directive for mandatory inclusion from the 2023 session.
In a notification issued on December 19, the Board highlighted that out of the 746 registered schools, only 715 have adopted the course and called on the remaining schools to begin offering the course in the upcoming academic session.
The Financial Literacy course is compulsory for all students in Classes IX and X in registered schools and will be externally assessed, with students appearing for an offline or online examination carrying 100 marks, stated a notification from NBSE Chairperson Asano Sekhose.
Successful candidates will be awarded a joint certificate.
The course curriculum consists of 25 periods, each lasting 45 minutes. The course fee is `120 for Class IX and `140 for Class X, with textbooks available for purchase from the Board’s office, the notification said.
To support effective teaching, the NSE Academy will provide training for teachers who will instruct the course and any graduate teacher who undergoes the training will be eligible to teach Financial Literacy, it added.
Training for teachers at schools newly adopting the course will be held in February/March 2025, with details on dates and timings to be announced soon.
