AR seizes smuggled Betel Nuts worth Rs 6 Cr
Kohima, January 8 (MExN): Troops of Assam Rifles seized smuggled Areca Nut valued at more than Rs 6 crore from a mobile vehicle check post near Ghaspani in Nagaland on January 5. Informing this, a press release from the PRO, Defense, Kohima said that the troops stopped nine loaded trucks travelling from Kohima to Dimapur. During the spot check of the vehicles, 3511 bags of Areca Nut (Betel Nut) valued more than Rs 6.05 crore were recovered. 18 persons accompanying these trucks were also apprehended, it added. The recovered smuggled items and the apprehended individuals have been handed over to Medziphema Police.
Narcotic Cell seizes 400 bottles of codeine cough syrup
Dimapur, January 8 (MExN): The Narcotic Cell of the Excise department, Nagaland seized 400 bottles of Codeine cough syrup (Condectuss) on January 8 at the Excise Check Gate, Chümoukedima. As per a press release from S Chanlei Angh, Deputy Commissioner of Excise (NC), Nagaland, Dimapur, one Wapang Chang (37 years), resident of Medziphema Town was arrested and booked under relevant section of Drug & Cosmetic Act 1940. The duty party consisted of Nokcha AIE, Burtemshi H/C, and constables Nyingpen, Khumeng, Vitsathrong, Chumben, Rokovikho, Mangyang and Aienla.
KMC directs shops
Kohima, January 8 (MExN): In pursuance of the recent home department co-ordination meeting minutes, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed all the business establishments/shopkeepers within KMC jurisdiction to white wash/clean the front side of their respective shop facing the road side on or before January 20, to facelift for the forthcoming Republic day and also to host the National Flag on top of the shops and building by 6:00 am on January 26. This was stated in a circular issued by KMC administrator Kovi Meyase.
NSCN (IM) Tuensang District extends New Year greetings
Tuensang, January 8 (MExN): NSCN (IM), Tuensang District has extended a happy and prosperous new year to all the Nagas and inhabitants of Nagalim. NSCN (IM) Joint Secretary M Royemchu Chang, in a press release appealed to all the Nagas to pray that “our cherished dreams are achieved in a most peaceful and harmonious way.”
NASU elects new team
Dimapur, January 8 (MExN): The Niuland Area Students' Union (NASU) has elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2020-2021 with Kaka K Holo as President, Botoka Chophi as General Secretary along with 16 other members. This was stated in a press release by its President, Kaka K Holo.
DC Kohima issues order to enforce ‘no work no pay’
Kohima, January 8 (MExN): As directed by the Government, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, NCS has notified all Head of Department (HoDs) under Kohima District to check the attendance of the officers and staff under their respective establishment and strictly enforce "No Work, No Pay" on absentee employees. The order also stated that ‘action taken report’ is to be submitted to the office of the DC, Kohima at the end of each week, for onward submission to the Government. The order has been issued for all officers and staff for strict compliance.
