We must have enough doctors: NPCC

DIMAPUR, JUNE 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has written to the Chief Secretary recommending that the State Government take a unilateral decision to appoint and use the services of “foreign medical graduates” who were rejected by the Medical Council of India.  A press release from the NPCC President K Therie appreciated the Nagaland Government’s decision of post creation for doctors and stated that “we must have enough doctors even in all the outpost stations.”
The NPCC said that the Medical Council of India rejects 80 percent of “foreign  medical graduates” in the MCI screening exam every year.
“The action of MCI is absurd. After registering with MCI, students are given permission to study in the medical colleges identified as listed by MCI. After completion, foreign medical graduates are rejected through MCI screening test examinations destroying the future of children and throwing parents to mental trauma,” the NPCC stated.
It therefore asked the State Government to use the services of such graduates. “Their services will belong to the State and no one has the authority to question the State decision which is in the interest of the people,” it added.
