Altogether 16 trainees from different North Eastern States are undertaking the three-month certificate course on post harvest management of horticultural crops at Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema commencing from August 23 last. The course started with an orientation programme conducted by the course co-ordinator, Vinika K Aomi, Director i/c and Additional Horticulture commissioner (DA& FW), GoI, Dr N K Patle also interacted with the trainees via video conference.

Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched at DH Mon in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society Mon Unit, sponsored by 27th Assam Rifle, Mon on Spetember 15. Dr Tinenlo James Katiwa, DTO Mon, NTEP requested the public of Mon on behalf of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) to contribute nutrition to any TB patients they come across, as the district has total number of 457 registered TB patients. Short speeches were delivered by Ngamto Konyak, Indian Red cross Society, Mon Unit and Col Santosh Rawat, SM, Comdt 27 AR. The programme was followed by distribution of nutrition to the TB patients. The Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur conducted a symposium on the theme ‘Enlivening the Indian Freedom’ organized by the Department of History on September 17. The speakers from each semester apprised the opinions of various scholars and illustrated the course and events of the revolt. The symposium dealt with circumstances which sowed the seeds of Indian nationalism. It also aimed at developing the ability of students to make decisions and judgments independently.

Book titled ‘Sangtam Naga and Christianity’ by Khumjong Sangtam was launched at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur on September 17. The author is an Associate Pastor cum general secretary at Police Baptist Church, DEF Tuensang. The book published by Heritage Publishing House, Dimapur was released by Rev Dr Hukashe A Zhimomi, Executive Secretary, NPBCA. In his book review, Dr Alem, Associate Professor, Discipleship Bible College stated that the author has interestingly discovered the origin of the ‘United Sangtam’ nomenclature initiated by some pioneers in the late 1950s. Industrial Training Institute Phek conducted its first convocation ceremony at ITI Hall Phek with SDO(C) Phek, Tsenthungo E Ngullie as the special guest on September 17. Earlier, the special guest performed the convocation ceremony by lighting the lamp followed by conferment of certificates and felicitation of meritorious trainees. The three-day special camp for Aadhaar enrolment/correction/updation and BIS Ayushman Bharat PMJAY registration/ecard generation organised by Wokha District Administration culminated at EAC Lotsu HQ on September 16. The camp covered seven villages under Lotsu circle viz. Longtsung, Sheru-echuk, Morakjo, Lotsu, Pyangsa, Moilan and Pyotchu. It was supervised by Litsenthung Kikon, EAC Lotsu and Thechamo Ovung, Chairman, Lotsu Village Council along with Thungchio Lotha, Supervisor, Aadhar Cell, DC Office Wokha and Kidang Ovung, District Coordinator Wokha, Ayushman Bharat PMJAY. A total of 73 Aadhaar enrolment/correction/updation and 170 Ayushman Bharat registration/e-card generation was done during the camp at Lotsu.

Modern Higher Secondary School, Kohima in collaboration with Imperial Coaching Centre conducted career guidance on ‘Effective Goal Planning’ at the school auditorium on September 17. Kaimangchoba Chang moderated the programme with resource person from Imperial Coaching Centre, Naim Issie, Rahul Sen and Rabindranath Bair. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Weche-ü Thahu, Department of Commerce.  

A team from the first Community Radio Station in Dimapur, 90.8 Hills FM led by its Managing Director, Imali Hesso alsong with Programme Manager, Ketho Sakhrie and RJ Yogen Chettri among others made a promotional visit to Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) on September 13. Imali is an alumna of LFI and it is the first time that the team had done a promotional visit to any educational institution after their formal launch on September 8 at Hotel Sente, Dimapur.
