The NSS Unit and RRC of Salesian College, in collaboration with the Western Sema Community Development Project TI Niuland, organized an awareness programme on HIV and STI. Resource persons, Project Director Hetovi Ayemi and Program Manager Nivi H Achumi (alumnus), along with team members Alovi P and Qhelitoli Yeptho, briefed students on the facts, prevention, and importance of correct information to protect themselves and build a healthier community. Students were introduced to the ABCD slogan: Abstinence until marriage, Being faithful, Condom use (for affected individuals), and Don't share syringes. They were also invited to submit queries through forms. Testing kits were made available for over 90 candidates, and twenty students came forward for testing.
The City Law College Students’ Union hosted a freshers and farewell day on August 29 at the Moot Court hall, themed “New Beginnings, Lasting Memories.” The special guest, Zasivikho Zakiesato, President of DUCCF, encouraged both new and graduating students to uphold humanity and good character. He stressed that true success lies not in personal advancement but in lifting others along the way. Zakiesato also reminded students of society’s high expectations of the educated, urging them to use their knowledge and positions to contribute meaningfully.The Department of Chemistry at Dimapur Government College (DGC), in collaboration with the Food Safety Administration (Dimapur Zone), organized a ‘Workshop on Food Adulteration’ on August 29 at the DGC Seminar Hall. The event was sponsored by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), DGC. The workshop’s highlight was a hands-on demonstration by Food Technicians Zuthungbemo Ngullie and Lika Assumi from the Food Safety on Wheels initiative. They showed simple, on-the-spot methods to detect common food adulterants. Additionally, a presentation covered the role and campaigns of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).Immanuel College, Dimapur, held its 32nd Freshers' Social cum Annual Day on August 29, themed ‘Empowering Potential, Creating Futures.’ The special guest, Imkongnukla Ao, NCS, Extra Assistant Commissioner of Longleng, urged students to recognize and explore their potential, pursue goals with focus, and not let circumstances define their abilities. She emphasised the importance of preparation, continuous learning and developing diverse skills. She highlighted that good character enhances the impact of position and power and that kindness leaves a lasting impression. She further called on students to work hard and cultivate a spirit of service. During the event, Thechano Humtsoe and Ghokivi Kinimi were crowned Miss and Mr Freshers Immanuel College 2026.The North East Christian University (NECU) Sports Club observed National Sports Day 2026 with a football penalty shootout for students, faculty, and staff under the theme ‘Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat.’ Dr Obed Kent, Convenor of the Sports Club, chaired the inaugural event, while Dr. Kangzangding Thou, Director (Academics), spoke on the significance of the day, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, leadership, and healthy competition. The penalty shootout was held in boys' and girls' categories, with participants showing great enthusiasm. NECU Nursing won the boys' category, while the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) team emerged champion in the girls' category.The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Chümoukedima, hosted its 12th Fresher’s Day on August 12 at BAM Hall. Chief Guest Lt Col Prachetan Gahatraj, Commanding Officer of the 24 Nagaland Battalion NCC, encouraged students to cultivate discipline, confidence, physical fitness, mental resilience, and clear goal-setting. He highlighted the NCC's ethos of going "Beyond the Ordinary" and stressed the importance of both physical and mental strength. He urged students to view failures as opportunities for growth, study diligently, remain open to new ideas, and make full use of faculty guidance. He reminded them that education should build knowledge, skills, and confidence to contribute meaningfully to society, and that their academic years would pass quickly, so they must work hard, stay disciplined, and remain committed to their goals.Yingli College, Longleng held its Freshers’ Meet 2026 on August 28 at Borgohain Hall, Longongkang Campus, Longleng, under the theme ‘Every New Beginning Blooms with Endless Possibilities.’ The event was graced by special guest Thungchanbemo Tungoe, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, and special guest judge A.
