Nagaland: Petrol prices cross Rs 100-mark in 8 districts

Dimapur | July 4

With fuel prices rising again for the second time this month, the retail price of petrol crossed the century mark in 8 districts of Nagaland on July 4.

The Oil marketing companies (OMCs) revised the price of petrol upward by 0.34 paise per litre across the State while diesel increased by 0.18-19 paise on Sunday taking fuel rates to a record high.

With Sunday’s hike, Longleng and Mokokchung joined six other districts - Tuensang, Kiphire, Noklak, Mon, Phek and Zunheboto (Satakha) – where a litre of petrol was selling above the century mark.

Tuensang and Kiphire first breached the psychological Rs 100-a-litre mark on June 26.

In two other districts including State capital Kohima and Wokha, a litre of petrol was selling above Rs 99 on Sunday, as per the official IndianOil One app.

A hike by 0.34 paise a litre on July 2 pushed the price of petrol over Rs 100 in six districts in Nagaland, even as diesel price remained unchanged.

Fuel prices are highest in Tuensang with a litre of petrol retailing at Rs 101.23 and that of diesel for Rs 94.24.

It is cheapest in Dimapur, where a litre of petrol was selling at Rs 98.11 and diesel was going for Rs 91.48 a litre on Sunday.

With Sunday’s hike, petrol prices have been raised twice in July while diesel has increased once, as per the database maintained by The Morung Express.

OMCs revise petrol and diesel prices every morning benchmarking retail fuel prices to average of global refined products’ prices and dollar exchange.

According to IOC’s ‘price buildup’ of fuel prices in Delhi, besides global price impact on base price, retail prices are determined by price charged to dealers (based price + fright etc), excise duty, average dealer commission, and VAT (including VAT on Dealer Commission).
