The Nagaland Police has scheduled the Physical and Medical Standards Tests (PST/PMT) for constable recruitment from January 7 to 13, and has issued a list of mandatory documents that candidates must produce during the recruitment rallies.

The recruitment is being conducted for 1,176 posts of Constable (GD) under the Police Department.

According to a notification issued by the Office of the Director General of Police on December 10, the PST/PMT will be held from January 7 to January 13, 2026, beginning 8:00 am onwards.

The PST/PMT will be conducted at designated district venues. These include the Police Complex at Chümoukedima for candidates from Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima districts; NAP (IR) Battalion headquarters at Sajang, Thizama, Okhezong and Phek; RSA Ground at Old Tseminyu Town; Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung; Loyem Memorial Ground in Tuensang; and local grounds or institutional campuses in districts including Wokha, Zunheboto, Longleng, Mon, Noklak, Shamator, Meluri and Phek.

The written examination is scheduled for January 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. The date, time and venue for interviews will be notified at a later stage, the notification added.

Meanwhile, in a separate press notification issued on December 22, the Nagaland Police reminded provisionally accepted candidates to compulsorily produce photocopies of mandatory documents at their respective district recruitment rally venues for verification during the PST/PMT.

The mandatory documents include proof of educational qualification—Class 6 pass certificate or higher for Backward Tribes and Class 8 pass certificate or higher for other Indigenous Naga Tribes—issued by NBSE or any recognised board; proof of identity such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card or Driving Licence; Certificate of Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland; Scheduled Tribe and Backward Tribe certificates (as applicable), duly signed by the district authority not below the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner; and proof of date of birth, including Birth Certificate or Matriculation or equivalent admit card.

Candidates who failed to successfully upload their Backward Tribe Certificate during the online application process have been directed to produce a photocopy of the same at the recruitment rally venue for verification, it said.

Failure to produce any of the mandatory documents during PST/PMT will result in rejection of candidature, it added.

In view of the large number of applicants, the scrutiny of documents will begin from January 2, 2026, across all venues.

Candidates who have successfully generated their admit cards have been instructed to report at their respective district recruitment rally venues by 5:30 am from the said date for document verification.

Admit cards can be downloaded from the Nagaland Police Recruitment Portal (https://nagalandpolicerecruitment.in/) and are mandatory for entry to the recruitment venues.

The list of rejected applications—around 500—has been uploaded on the portal. “Exam fee not paid” was cited as the main reason behind the rejections.

The police have advised candidates to regularly check the official website and recruitment portal, or contact their respective district recruitment helplines, for further updates and clarifications. No separate individual intimation will be issued, it added.

As per an earlier update by the Nagaland Police Headquarters (PHQ), a total of 31,489 candidates submitted applications for the recruitment drive.

The final tally, as of November 26, shows that 33,882 candidates registered for the recruitment of 1,176 Constable (General Duty) posts, while 31,489 candidates completed the process by paying the examination fee.

This translates to roughly 27 applicants per post, although there is district-wise allocation of vacancies.
