Nagaland Principals’ Forum doubtful of NU semester system

Dimapur, June 25 (MExN): The Nagaland College Principals’ Forum (NCPF) while welcoming the semester system initiative taken by the University wishes to see that all the guidelines/handbook containing syllabi are completed on time to ensure smooth introduction of the semester system at the undergraduate level by the 2012 academic session. NCPF President Dr. PS Lorin and Secretary Dr. Vituo Belhou in a letter addressed to Nagaland University Lumami, School of Social Sciences, Dean, Prof. A. Lanunungsang stated that since admission to first semester for B.A, B.Com, B Sc. 1st year is likely to start in May all necessary details must be completed by April 2012.
The Forum at an executive meeting held on June 18 deliberated on these issues and decided to write to the University. The NCPF feels that the proposal for “Draft Models” from the respective College principals level regarding the introduction of semester system is not going to be a fruitful exercise at the College level at this stage since BUGS is fully in charge of the syllabi and other related details for the introduction of semester system.
In other words, draft models from 52 individual Colleges may not be a worthy exercise for the BUGS to go through, the Forum stated adding that once BUGS has drafted a syllabi then it can be sent to the colleges for recommendations and feedback and not the other way around. It is the prerogative of BUGS to prepare the syllabi. However, its guide lines or handbook, syllabi, and other details may be made available to the principals for feedbacks or suggestions.
