Unemployed persons or job-seekers in Nagaland have a great reason to rejoice as their data will now be recorded systematically  and make accessible to prospective employers elsewhere. The step has been made possible with the launch of an online registration here today under the Computerization of Employment Exchanges Programme at the Regional Employment Exchange in  Kohima.

Under the  facility, data of unemployed persons or job seekers will be recorded, thereafter process the data to select and forward eligible candidates to prospective employers. This facility  is beneficial for both job seekers and employers. It may be recalled that during the Eight Five Year Plan period, the government of India introduced a centrally-sponsored scheme for  computerization of employment  exchanges in phased manner. This was with the objective to providing better service in terms of accuracy and speed, to maintain a database of unemployed persons and process the data to select and forward eligible candidates to  prospective employers; to have a database of registered candidates, educational institutions and vocational training facilities.

Launching the facility here this morning, Parliamentary Secretary for Labour & Employment T Saku Aier said that with the launching of this computerized facility, job seekers would be recorded to find jobs in the ‘entire world.’ He also called for proper maintenance of the provided facility so that the ‘entire world’ would access the required information. He also congratulated the department of employment for implementing the project and thanked the National Informatics Centre (NIC) for their technical support.

Aier said  the online registration is a very important project which would be of great benefit to job seekers as well as employers. Since the information of the job seekers would be readily available, it would make things easier for everyone and would also save time, he said. Joint  Secretary for Labour & Employment K. Miasalhou said that the launch of the online registration would facilitate  job seekers in a very beneficial way.

Director of E&CT N Panger Jamir said that following the directive of the Government of India to  employment exchanges to be computerized, the state has also embarked on a good  beginning. Other employment exchanges in the state would also be computerized, he said. The principal system analyst from the NIC said that the project would help the department to maintain records in a systematic manner.

He said that as  details about job seekers would be recorded, the data can be made available to employers seeking prospective candidates for suitable jobs. He said that the project is a national e-governance project which has already been implemented in many other states in the country.
