Photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav underway in Kohima

Nagaland Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Minister Temjen Imna Along today asserted that ‘Nagaland should be a land of entrepreneurs.’ Speaking to students during the inaugural of the three-day ‘Photo Exhibition and Artificial Intelligence Display’ in Kohima, Imna Along said that the problem with the Naga society now is the dependence on government jobs alone. 

In this, he encouraged the students to look for other avenues and at the same time to work hard stay committed. He also requested the institutions/teachers to make the young people employable.

Minister Imna Along was addressing the as the special guest organised in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (8 years of Seva, Sushasan & Garib Kalyan) at St Mary's Cathedral Higher Secondary School on October 31. It was organised by Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Field Office, Kohima, in collaboration with St Mary's Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Kohima.

Various Ministries/government departments and institutions, including Ministry of Textiles, Nagaland Women Vocational Training Institute, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Post, Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Nagaland Robotic Club etc joined the event, which will continue till November 2.

Imna Along also reminded the children that they should ask God’s wisdom and grow holistically, adding that they could chart their destiny through sincere efforts and commitment to their ambitions.

He told them to take advantage of National Education Policy (NEP). Through the NEP 2020, the government is looking forward to making India a “global knowledge superpower” and it will be only done by making the education system for schools and colleges more flexible, holistic, and multi-disciplinary which will bring out their unique capabilities.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his eight years of ruling the country from 2014 has a vision towards the empowerment of its people, he said, “Looking at the photo exhibition and the empowerment we cannot deny the fact that the eight years of Seva Sushasan & Garib Kalyan Parv has brought many changes in the country.’

The Minister also explained that Seva (helping and upholding each other), Sushasan (good governance) and Garib Kalyan (uplifting the poor and the needy), Parv (festival), has proved the empowerment of the people in the country.

The minister maintained that Nagaland as a state also enjoys the benefit of Modi leadership and the Government of India.
Later, Along distributed the certificates to the winners of various competitions on Azad Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

‘AI has immense potential to transform any field of human nature’
Thavaseelan K, Principal Director, Department of School Education also spoke at the programme. He thanked the organizers for bringing together the unique concept of the exhibition and Artificial Intelligence Display.

He said that the setting up of AI in schools is fundamentally changing the way students and teachers understand and assimilate information in today's world.

Stating that AI has immense potential to transform any field of human nature to sustain human life, he said, “Artificial Intelligence in education has the potential to be a game-changer for every child.”

On the photo Exhibition, he asked the students present to access information and consume knowledge through the photos since photos transcend time. It bridges generations. It is essential to get into the world of photography because it gives a perspective view to look into the future and also to look at how the country has progressed.

The programme was chaired by Imtinaro, AIR Kohima while welcome address was delivered by Fr. Jaison CJ, principal, St Mary's Cathedral Higher Secondary School. Vote of thanks was pronounced by P Sophie.
