‘Nagaland state a forerunner under National Rural Livelihoods Mission’

Kohima, June 23 (MExN): To review progress and achievements, and plan for the remaining year, a three-day state level annual review and action plan workshop for FY 2022-2023 of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) with managerial staff from all districts and 74 RD blocks began on June 23. 

District and Block plans will be facilitated by the State Mission Management Unit officials, stated a press release received here. 

Attending the workshop as a representative from the MoRD, Prabhat Kumar, Mission Manager, NMMU, DAY-NRLM (Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihoods Mission) informed that since inception, Nagaland has been a forerunner under the Mission with an achievement of 96% staff in position, the highest in the country.

He said DAY-NRLM is a priority mission with the PMO closely monitoring the progress and apprised participants the importance of continued upgrading of knowledge to remain relevant in the market. He said the community is in the driver’s seat and the Mission is to facilitate the community towards achieving the goal of poverty alleviation. He mentioned that SHG women across the country have a collective fund of 70000 crore which reflects the earnestness of the Mission towards attainment of goals.  

Around 1.11 lakh households mobilized
Delivering the keynote address, Imtimenla, Mission Director, NSRLM remarked that in the 10 years of implementation, it is encouraging to see how the Mission is shaping the lives of rural community with around 1.11 lakh households already mobilized under the fold of NSRLM.

She said the credibility of DAY-NRLM has increased with a paradigm shift in convergence efforts where other Ministries are partnering with the National Rural Livelihoods Program through the SHG networks for implementation of plans. 

She emphasized upon the importance of sustainability of the community institutions to ensure continuity to meet targets, while also mentioning that integration and good coordination are key to the success of the objectives. 

12640 SHGs, 1065 VLOs formed
M Rollan Lotha, Chief Operating Officer, NSRLM highlighted the key achievements of the various components under the Mission wherein 12640 Self Help Groups (SHGs), and its higher level 1065 Village Level Organisation (VLO) and 46 Cluster Level Federations (CLF) have been formed. 

A total of 38 federations are being developed as Model Federation with three registered as cooperative society till date; formation of 70 Producer Groups, one Producer Enterprise, 4017 youths successfully running various enterprises under SVEP; 3917 youths engaged in self-employment under RSETI; 1677 youths placed in various organized sector across the country under DDU-GKY. 

He highlighted the objective of the workshop and underscored the importance of leveraging convergence with other flagship programmes and key stakeholders to ensure nurturing and strengthening of the SHGs and their Federations to evolve into autonomous, sustainable institutions owned, managed and utilized by women, supported by an enabling ecosystem towards creation of wealth in an equitable gender-just society that enhances quality of life in the rural households through the SHGs network.

The three-day workshop will have district wise presentations on program progress; orientation on the NSRLM’s annual action plan for FY 2022-2023; District-Block quarter-wise planning with set targets and formulation of plans as per progress.
