The Nagaland State Level Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme 2025 under the aegis of Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland in collaboration with NSS and NYKS took place at Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Kohima on August 12.
Through this platform, which is also part of the observance of International Youth Day, the students vied for Debate and Youth Parliament Competition.
Gracing the opening session, Anthony Ngullie, Commissioner & Secretary For Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland said that “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) represents the ambitious national goal of transforming India into a fully developed nation by the year 2047.
He said that Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect is a platform for engagement, empowerment and action, adding that it brings young minds and national policymakers together, encouraging dialogue and participation in the journey towards nation-building.
Spearheaded by Government of India, it has involved inspirational interactions with students and youth across the country and share ideas on sustainability, social reform, innovation and technology, Ngullie said.
This initiative gives us a chance to not just dream about the India of 2047, but to create it ourselves, he said.
With over 65% of India’s population under the age of 35, we are the world’s largest youth power. That power must be harnessed for innovation in technology, agriculture, education, and space, entrepreneurship and job creation, sustainability and climate action and Inclusive development, where no citizen is left behind, Ngullie said.
“But for this, we must take responsibility. Viksit Bharat will not be built by chance it will be built by vision, values, and action,” the Commissioner & Secretary said.
Our ideas matter and our actions matter even more, he added.
‘Youth must become change-makers’
Ngullie said that the youth must become change-makers, not just dreamers. “We must be the builders of tomorrow, not just the inheritors of today,” he said.
The dream of Viksit Bharat @2047 is a call to all of us. Through the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect, we are reminded that the power to transform this country lies within us, he said. In this, Ngullie called upon the youth to rise to this challenge with energy, with unity and with purpose. “Let’s connect. Let’s contribute. Let’s create a Developed India,” he added.
Khruohituonuo Rio, Secretary In-charge, Nagaland Legislative Assembly also addressed the gathering. “Let us work hand in hand, with dedication and unity to realize the dream of a developed India by 2047, where every voice counts, and every youth leads.”
Youth resources officer Naroenla said that the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aimed at engaging the youth in meaningful discussions, developing leadership skills, and fostering active citizenship.
In Nagaland state, this initiative has been brought to life through three pre-event activities-Youth Parliament, Debate Competition and My Bharat Portal Registration Drive-covering twenty-six institutions across fourteen districts.
These activities have seen enthusiastic participation, giving young people a platform to express their ideas, challenge their abilities, and connect with one another, she said.
