Dimapur, February 11 (MExN): The Indian delegates of the 3rd IRIS Programme 2020 underwent a vigorous training at the Youth Invitation Program, hosted by the Embassy of Japan. The programme was held in central parts of Tokyo and Nagasaki from February 1 to 8.

A 12 member team from Nagaland alongside 49 members from other Northeast states represented India whereby the goal mission was to educate the young minds and bring a change within their own community through aspiration from advanced Japanese technology and preventive measures.

The programme was devised to encourage youths and lead them into responsible leaders of tomorrow. For this, simulation of earthquake disaster and preventive measures against it were taught at the Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park and a sustainable eco- future way was paved by the demonstration of the Technology of Hydrogen fueled cars.

It also commemorated the 75th anniversary of Battle of Kohima where the participants heard first hand from an atomic bomb survivor Yoshiro Yamawaki, with a positive message of spreading peace. Field work was also done in one of the historical sites, at Mt. Unzen Disaster hall. The team also visited several popular sites during the stay and availed the opportunity to watch a short robot demonstration for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics at the Panasonic Center. The last Destination for the team was to learn more about the Waste water management and Landfill sites of Japan. A positive message was impressed upon the avid learners from the Northeast to not only think but actually do and perform.

The participants of IRIS Programme have conveyed gratitude to the embassy of Japan and the JTB Corp by presenting various traditional treasures to the concerned guides and lecturers who were in the program.
