Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): The Asia Pacific Baptist Youth Conference was held at the Philippines Baptist Theological Seminary in the city of Baguio, Philippines under the theme ‘Making and Multiplying Disciples’ (2 Timothy 2:2) from May 21 to 24.
The highlights of the conference included worships, workshops, plenary sessions, devotions, praise & worship, ministry expo, family groups, cultural presentations, Baguio city tour and youth stage. The conference was attended by 712 young people from 20 countries in Asia Pacific.
NBCC Youth Secretary, Rev. Vikuo Rhi, in a press release stated that among the conventions, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) was the largest number of delegates represented by 70 young people. A Cantamus choir comprising of different tribal churches from Dimapur and Kohima represented NBCC and performed both in devotionals as well as in cultural programmes. Resource persons and programme participants from Nagaland included Asha Sanchu, Aroko Nagi, Tiakumzuk, Imnatoshi Longkumer, Rev. Vikuo Rhi and Mhaseve Tetseo.
A new team of APBY leadership was elected led by Steve Dixon, from Baptist Convention of Australia as Chair, Jacob Cobtea of Baptist Church of Mizoram as Vice Chair, Ireina Ruth, Union of Indonesian Baptist Churches, Lakna Premawardane, Baptist Churches of Sri Lanka, Za Uk Sang, Myanmar Baptist Convention, Franco Ferrer, Luzon Convention Southern Baptist Churches.
The next APBY conference shall be hosted by the Malaysia Baptist Convention in 2024.
