NAGALAND UNIVERSITY: In-person classes to resume from October 18 at Lumami campus

Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): The Nagaland University has announced that it has decided to reopen its Lumami Campus for offline academic activities with mandatory compliance to COVID appropriate behaviours like wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing, and hand sanitising.

The announcement was made through the state DIPR on Tuesday by NU Vice Chancellor Prof Pardeshi Lalha S. According to the DIPR, a meeting was held on September 27 with the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, all Deans of Schools, Dean of Students’ Welfare, all Heads of the Departments and all Wardens, during which guidelines relating to the return of students were set.

As per the decisions taken during the said meeting, all members of the faculty shall be available in the Departments from October 1 onwards and 3rd Semester students shall arrive at the campus and hostels during from October 15-16. Offline classes for the 3rd Semester students would begin with effect from October 18, it stated.

However, students arriving on campus would be required to produce a negative test report for COVID-19— Rapid Antigen Test done 48 hours before arrival or RT-PCR test done 72 hours before arrival, it added. 

Arrival of the 1st Semester students to the campus shall begin on November 1 after allotment of hostel seats, the VC’s directive stated.

In case any students develop any symptom of COVID-19 after arrival in the campus, the student shall immediately report the matter to the Hostel Warden, Head of the Department concerned, or Dean of Students’ Welfare, it said.

The VC also informed that the University administration will earmark one building temporarily for isolating anyone found having COVID-19 symptoms. Preliminary health check-up of all students arriving in the campus would be arranged and thermal scanning facility would be provided in all the academic departments.

All students and faculty shall ensure mandatory compliance of COVID appropriate behaviours like wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing, hand sanitising etc., and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Centre and the State Government from time to time, shall be implemented with strict compliance, he added.

The VC further directed all concerned parties to take necessary follow-up action accordingly.
