Nagaland: Vaccination of senior citizens begins

DIMAPUR, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Government today began vaccination for senior citizens and those with co-morbidities in various parts of the State. The vaccination of age appropriate high risk groups will continue till March 7. 
A press release from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare informed that 180 senior citizens in the 60 years and above category along with 13 beneficiaries with co-morbidities above 45 years were vaccinated without any adverse events needing medical intervention. 
The oldest beneficiary was an 89-year old man from Longleng. 
As of March 1, a total of 35,789 vaccine doses have been administered in the State. 
The highest number of vaccine doses have been administered in Dimapur (10,486), followed by Kohima (6,964), Mokokchung (3,238), Mon (2,738), Phek (2,552), Zunheboto (2,120), Wokha (1,761), Peren (1,601), Kiphire (1,183), and Longleng (922). 
Meanwhile, the drive was also held across the country with top leadership members also being administered the vaccine. Prime Minister, Narendra was administered the COVAXIN vaccine at AIIMs Delhi on March 1. State and central leaders across India fitting the criteria also received their first dose of the vaccine. 

In Nagaland, the Health and Family Welfare Department publicized its vaccination drive on social media, with several government servants, retired officials and citizens who fall under the present criteria receiving their doses. 

No new COVID-19 cases reported

No cases of COVID-19 were reported in Nagaland on March 1 out of 171 samples tested. The Health Department’s bulletin informed that the total caseload in the State remains at 12,200. With 11,949 patients recovering from the infection, the State now has only 7 active cases.
