22 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on Saturday taking the state's tally of confirmed cases to 978.
The new cases were reported out of 216 samples that were sent for testing, according to Twitter updates from Nagaland Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Minister S Pangnyu Phom.
As per the tweet, 11 of the cases were reported from Quarantine Centres (QCs) in Peren, 8 from QCs in Dimapur while 3 were from Kohima QCs.
However, the state also reported 27 cases of ‘recoveries’ on Saturday, taking the number of recovered cases to 432 with a recovery rate of 44%.
According to data provided by the H&FW, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, the recoveries were reported from Kohima (8), Peren (1) and Tuensang (18).
With this, the total active cases now stand at 546.
In terms of severity of cases, 543 are said to be asymptomatic, 2 were shown as ‘mild cases’ while 1 was categorized as ‘moderate’ case.
Updates from the Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha informed that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Further, active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection, he said.
As per the H&FW data, out of the total cases, 700 of cases were detected among returnees to the state. Armed forces personnel accounted for 240 of the cases while 28 frontline workers also tested positive for COVID-19. 10 positive cases were categorized as “traced contacts.”
Gender wise, males accounted for 77.4 % of the total infections at 757 while the number of infections among females stood at 221 or 22.6%.
