Nagaland’s Kekhrieneitso Angami wins big at APFC India 1 in Bengaluru

BENGALURU, DECEMBER 6 (MExN): Nagaland’s Kekhrieneitso Angami, representing The Combat Academy Nagaland, clinched a notable victory at the Anthony Pettis Fighting Championship (APFC) India 1 held in Bengaluru on December 5.

Competing in a professional MMA featherweight bout, Angami faced Mudassar Shaikh of Pune and secured a second-round win via technical knockout, marking a significant milestone in his professional career. The event was streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, a press release from Victor Angami, Manager, The Combat Academy stated. 

APFC, founded in 2021 by former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, provides a professional platform for emerging mixed martial artists. Since making its debut in 2022, the promotion has expanded across the United States and recently into international markets. APFC India 1 in Bengaluru is its first Indian event to be streamed globally through UFC Fight Pass, offering domestic fighters unprecedented international visibility.

For athletes like Angami, competing on UFC Fight Pass is seen as a major opportunity as it brings their performance before a global audience and enhances prospects for entry into larger promotions and sponsorships.

The win has brought renewed attention to The Combat Academy Nagaland and further highlighted the emerging MMA talent from the state on an international stage, the press release added.
