‘Nagas 80 Plus’ featuring write-up of 42 senior citizens released

Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) general secretary Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho released a book on “Nagas 80 Plus” here at Baptist High Auditorium on November 17.

“Nagas 80 Plus” book, featuring write-up of 42 senior citizens, was initiated by Zapuvisie Lhousa and printing of the book was borne by contractor Pele Khezhie.

Former chief minister Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev Dr Keyho said, “Today is an auspicious day to celebrate the work of octogenarians in the Naga society. They have penned their experience, observation as elders in the society. Real life experiences were incorporated and above all, their wisdom for posterity.”

Maintaining that the 42 contributors are indeed real gem for the state, he said “Their words were seasoned words. They are cut and polished and shinning which will guide the generations to come to follow and appreciate how they have lived in their given world.”

In the pages, we see hope, vision patience, love and resilience, he said.

Rev Dr Keyho added that the book will act as a guide and beneficial for the Nagas.

Earlier, in an introductory speech, Prof Talitsüba said the articles in this book by concerned Naga elders tell their rich experiences in life- joy and sorrow, success and failure and also give loving caution and warnings with word of encouragement and guidance for the young generations.

Many of them have come through painful experiences of blood and tears; having lost their parents and relatives brutally killed by the army and lost homes and everything. Yet, still by God's grace, they have survived through all these unimaginable and horrific experiences and today, through their experiences, they have shared genuine and loving advice and guidance for our emulation and application in our lives in this book, he said.

Thanking the generosity of Pele Khezie for sponsoring the cost of the printing of this first edition of “Nagas 80 plus”, he said the book will be distributed freely in all important institutions in Nagaland, namely- government & private colleges, theological colleges, universities, churches, public libraries, etc.

Prof. Talitsüba also thanked Zapuvise Lhousa for his sacrificial and active involvement to produce this book.

Earlier, the function was chaired by Rajuselie Lhousa while vote of thanks was proposed by Seno Vihienuo.
