Nagas in Cambodia during the 5th NACAM meet which was held in Phnom Penh from September 26 to 28.
Dimapur, October 13 (MExN): The 5th NACAM meet was held from September 26 to 28 in Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia. In a press note issued by Gihuka Swu and Asui Kikon, the out-going leaders, it was stated that ‘NACAM’ is an acronym word for “Nagas in Cambodia.” It came into existence in 2007 under the initiatives of earlier missionaries from Nagaland with its motto “to encourage, assist and admonish in Christ love.” Within a span of few years, its numbers has multiplied to over 30 members.
NACAM consists of colorful members from Nagaland representing different tribal churches and Christian NGOs, working as missionaries in different parts of Cambodia in different fields and ministries and also few students undergoing studies and trainings in theological seminaries in Cambodia. Since its year of inception, there has been an annual meet where all NACAM members converge at various non-permanent locations within Cambodia. “It was regretful that some of the members could not attend the recent annual event due to various reasons, but the rest of the members had a refreshing and memorable time together,” stated the note.
Some of the highlights of the day were special activities such as, friendly Footsal (Five Men Soccer) match, appointment of its new leadership team, inspiring word of God through an American missionary “Tim Hatch” and two complete days of feasting on typical Naga cuisine. The outgoing leaders also expressed gratitude to the organizers for rendering their selfless efforts and for working efficiently on the practicalities of the meet. They also expressed their appreciation for active participation in the occasion with their assigned responsibilities and for making it a successful and meaningful one. Moreover, they also congratulated the newly appointed leaders.
NACAM also extended its gratitude to the churches and friends back home in Nagaland and for their unceasing prayers and supports. “Souls are being won for Christ because God is fulfilling His promise by taking heed to the prayers of Naga people” mentioned the note. It also said that Naga missionaries are there because God has niches and rooms for Naga Christians and Churches. “We must come out because God has blessed us not to be church pew warmers but to be a blessing”. They stated that they remain envious of the prayers, intercessions and encouragement of people back home because it really matters and are indispensable.
