NSUD interacts with former Chief Minister in Delhi
New Delhi, November 9 (MExN): Stating that Nagas are still stuck in the past, Dr SC Jamir on November 9 advised student leaders that the only way for Nagas to move forward was to “live and excel in the present.”
The world is moving forward and the Naga's cannot afford to remain static, he noted, during his interaction with the Naga Students Union Delhi (NSUD) members who called on him in New Delhi to congratulate him on being conferred the Padma Bhushan Award.
Accordingly, he urged the student leaders to not only take pride in past history but rather make history in the present, a press release from NSUD informed.
Further, Dr Jamir also noted that what matters most in the 21st century is excellence and the only way to achieve excellence is through sheer hard work, it said.
He advised the student leaders to not follow the wrongdoings of the older generation but rather cultivate the work culture of this fast changing world and contribute to the building of the nation, it noted.
Dr Jamir also noted that Naga's have two identities –a Christian Identity and the second is the Naga identity which is honesty, hard work, courage and integrity and challenged the younger generation to live up to it, the release added.
The NSUD team was led by President Issac Charenamei and General Secretary Vitso Rio, accompanied by the union’s Advisors Kuolie Mere and Mavio.
During the interaction, Charenamei congratulated Dr Jamir on behalf of the 50 thousand members of NSUD for being conferred the prestigious award while Rio, acknowledging the veteran leader’s innumerable contributions for the Naga society lauded him for being an exemplary ambassador and a true torch bearer for Naga people, the release said.
NSUD Advisor, Mavio while acknowledging the “past misunderstanding,” spoke on the importance of Unity and oneness amongst the Naga's at this very crucial juncture, it informed.
He also called upon the unions who have distanced themselves from NSUD to consider being a part of the bigger Naga family again, so as to conductively and constructively work for the greater welfare of the people, it added.
