•-I am a Naga from Heimi Region, and have been living in Thailand since 1988. As I am a Naga and have an interest to learn more about our Naga national affairs, I have attended many times in the reconciliation meetings conducted by Nagaland Church leaders here in Chiang Mai. It is a wonder for me that why the Nagas are fighting against each other instead of fighting against the enemy. Truly it is not that Muivah group is demanding independent from the NNC or from Khaplang faction, and neither do Khaplang from Muivah group. Then what is the meaning and purpose of fighting against each other? For me it is only an act of madness and nonsense.
The fighting is not for a month or a year but it dragged a long period up to more than 30 years. So it cannot be a mistake or of a simple political blunder, but it is involved an intention to destroy the Nagas by some Naga leaders playing with the enemy’s policy. If not, there is a way to solve the differences among the Nagas through direct talk between the leaders. It is known by all that many meetings had been held in abroad and at Home and carried out discussions for reconciliation, yet there was no tangible solution come out of the meetings so far, instead killing is continued up to date. Indeed there was no more bloodshed among the Nagas in Heimi Region since 1988. But now in this year 2011, the fighting is carrying out in our Region after 23 years by Muivah group and shedding the blood again. Why he wants to re-occupy Heimi Region? We have nothing to do with his demand for an autonomous state or greater Nagaland within the Indian Union.
I have a copy of Newspaper, that last year 2010, on July 11, Muivah visited the graveyard of the Father of Naga Nation Dr. A.Z. Phizo and paid rich tribute, placed a wreath as a respect to the Father of the Nation and said; “A.Z. Phizo is the guiding Star of the Naga nation. The Naga National Council (NNC) under the leadership of A.Z. Phizo had taken the right decision to save the Naga nation and did the best for the Nagas. We are proud of them. The NNC saved the Naga nation and laid the national foundation, there is no greater than that. And he prayed for eternal glory to NNC and Phizo”. This is the fact that Muivah/NSCN accepted and recognized A.Z. Phizo as Father of the Naga nation. And also by saying the NNC saved the Naga nation and laid the foundation, he does not condemn the NNC, but resolutely supports and regards the NNC as founder of the Naga nation.
This clearly shows that there is no difference between the NNC and NSCN on the leadership of A.Z. Phizo or on the Naga National Council. Why then Muivah led his group to fight against the Nagas in the past more than thirty years? Therefore stop, such madness fighting from now on and all the Nagas from the NSCN factions must reunite with the NNC which is the only legitimate foundation of the Nagas as Muivah described. If Muivah refuses or some other NSCN leaders do so, leave them alone, but the members who have good reason and discernment must reunite with the NNC henceforth.
Mr. John
